Dave Collins was a US Marshall who was also a friend of Detective Danny Williams. While extraditing a prisoner Sal Painter back to Hawaii, Collins was murdered by Rick Peterson, Danny's old partner and a corrupt cop.
According to Danny, he and Collins kept in touch with each other and it was also revealed that Collins was married with three children.
