Deacon MacKenna (died 2012) was the Deacon of St Martin's Church and also an infamous serial killer known as the Trashman, who operated in Hawaii from the 1980s to 2009.
When Max Bergman was abandoned by his birth mother, McKenna was one of the ones who found him.
He was well known for targeting his female victims with his M.O being to bind his victims, suffocate them and then leave their bodies in garbage bags hence the nickname, "Trashman" with his second victim being Machiyo Takeshita, Max Bergman's biological mother.
He claimed that he never had a mother, that he grew up without one. MacKenna's own killing urges and reasons for murdering women who had children was due to the fact that his own mother had abandoned him and as such, MacKenna himself was raised in several care houses with MacKenna commenting that they were horrible and abusive and they claimed they were doing him a big favor. This led him to think that all mother who abandoned their babies at the same parish deserved to be dumped 'like a piece of trash', like he was. For two decades, he hunted down and killed women who had left their children at the same parish like his own mother did.
MacKenna later captured Max, telling him that his mother had come back for him years later. He told Max that he was no different than him. He attempted to kill Max, only for Max to escape and kill MacKenna by stabbing him with a piece of glass just as Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua arrived.
