In Hana Lokomaika'i, he and another agent question the Five-0 team about Chin Ho's involvement in his father's case as well as arresting Gabriel Waincroft, not caring about the facts given to him and even going as far as to denigrate Chin’s deceased wife, Malia Waincroft. When Chin Ho walks out, he taunts him by saying he'll be waiting. In Waiwai, Chin described this questioning as “a witch hunt”.

In Pono Kaulike, Coughlin arrests Chin for his role in Marco Reyes' murder. Like before, he smugly disregards the facts given to him. He then approaches Gabriel, who is willing to testify. Later, he and his team search Chin’s desk at Five-0 headquarters, before leaving after a confrontation with Steve McGarrett. He shows the search warrant, before mockingly crumpling it. But as Coughlin gave him a pen to sign the statement, Gabriel uses the opportunity to stab him in the eye before taking off with his gun and phone. Without him, all charges against Chin Ho were dropped and Waincroft sarcastically called him using Coughlin's phone saying he is welcome.

Notes[]

  • He presumably has a giant dislike to Chin Ho and his family, at the point of insulting them and even denigrating his dead wife.
