Kam Fong Chun (born Kam Tong Chun; May 27, 1918 - October 18, 2002) was an American actor and former police officer who played Chin Ho Kelly on the 1968 Hawaii Five-O (1968 TV series) television series. He was the father of Dennis Chun who portrays as Sgt. Duke Lukela in the reboot series from 2010.
Life & Career[]
Chun was born in the Kalihi area of Honolulu in the former Territory of Hawaii to Chinese-born Chow Sin Chun and Hawaiian local Mary Powers. At the age of seven, his parents divorced, resulting in the splitting of the family with Chun and his younger siblings residing with their mother. After graduating high school, Chun was employed as a boiler maker in the shipyards at Pearl Harbour. On the 7th December 1941, Chun witnessed the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbour.
On the 8th June 1944, Chun's first wife, Esther and their two children, four-year-old daughter Marilyn and two-year-old son Donald were killed when two B-25 bombers collided over the Chun residence.
