Keako is a former HPD Detective and the uncle of Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua.
After learning that his wife, Mele was suffering a kidney-related illness, Keako stole money from the HPD Asset Forfeiture Locker to help pay for the operation. Chin, not wanting his uncle to suffer took the fall, covering for his uncle while claiming that he had stolen the money with the move ultimately damaging Chin's reputation and career.
