The Trunkless Tree of Kahilikolo (Ka lā‘au kumu ‘ole o Kahilikolo) is the 9th episode of Season 10 in the remake version of Hawaii Five-0.
Synopsis[]
Junior and Tani track down the thief who robbed his parents' home; Five-0 investigates the murder of a beloved philanthropist and the theft of his valuable koa tree; Danny moves in with McGarrett.
Plot[]
At Thanksgiving Five-0 investigates the murder of philanthropist George Parks, seemingly killed as witness to a robbery on his own property, where only a huge, rare, millions-worth koa tree was stolen.
Upon arriving at the suspected gardener's address, the team finds the robbers had been killed but the koa wood was still there, except one piece containing a large cavity. George's family is associated with a young German woman whose disappearance years ago was found suspicious but remained unsolved.
Junior and Tani investigate a robbery at his parent's house and discover that the robber stole a hidden 'treasure box', including his estranged father Natano's Purple Heart medal and gold retirement watch. Junior suspects his childhood best friend and informal foster brother Owen Ocampo, now a junkie, who confesses, but didn't pawn the Purple Heart, not forgetting his friendship with Junior. He later accepts Junior's ultimatum-offer to go to rehab instead of prosecution.
Reconciled, Junior invites his parents to the Thanksgiving celebrations at McGarrett's house, where Danny has moved in on account of another mold problem.

Steve McGarrett: And, second of all, I get it. It's been a, uh, it's been an interesting year for me, between Joe and Mom. He's worried about me. He wants to keep an eye on me, I get it.
Lou Grover: Nice when you got a lot of friends that actually give a damn about you, ain't it?
Steve McGarrett: Yes, it is.
Lou Grover: Speaking of poker faces, you better work on yours. The man is a detective. He's eventually gonna know that you know that he's lying.
